IGS has welcomed Lawrence Ross who joins the team as Chief Product Officer. The appointment, which was effective from 1 July, has been made to help IGS deliver its vertical farming and smart-space solutions to customers across the world.

Originally from Northern Ireland, Lawrence is a graduate of Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and has lived and worked in Scotland for many years. He brings a wealth of experience in the technology sector, including a highly successful career at Sun Microsystems Inc., nearly 10 years as COO and CEO of Internet of Things software and tools developer, PrismTech, and most recently as GM of ADLINK Technology's IoT Software and Technology Business Unit.

An Electrical and Electronic Engineer by trade, Lawrence's role as CPO will see him take overarching responsibility for the delivery of IGS products to a global market. With a whole product approach including ensuring hardware, software and services are designed to deliver optimal results and exceed customer expectations. The remit will include the direction of all product-related activities, from ideas inception to technology research and invention; product design and development; manufacturing and supply chain security; through to user or channel support and maintenance.

Reflecting on his decision to join IGS, Lawrence Ross commented: I was drawn to IGS as an opportunity to really make an impact on a global scale. The technology that is being developed by the company is so exciting and offers genuine opportunities for us to rethink the way in which we approach a lot of the things we take for granted: food production; internal building systems and controls; even lighting.

Even in the short time I've been with IGS so far, I have been so impressed by the ethos, the thinking and the people who make up the company. I'm excited by what the future holds for IGS and am delighted to have the chance to be part of it.

IGS CEO David Farquhar commented: “Having Lawrence join our team is a very exciting step forward for IGS. We're at a crucial juncture in our development and now is our chance to ensure we're continually working to refine and develop our products to ensure we are delivering the excellent quality, continuous innovation and simple but efficient design and our customers have come to expect from IGS.

Lawrence has an incredible track record and his experience is perfectly aligned to where we are planning to take IGS in the coming months and years. He has already hit the ground running, coming in not only during the COVID-19 lockdown but also during one of the busiest times we've experienced as a business. We are pleased to have him with us and look forward to working with him as he helps IGS continue to grow and develop.
