IGS has been awarded the hotly contested ‘Innovating Scotland’ prize at the 20th anniversary VIBES Awards, Scotland’s annual environmental business awards.

The agri-tech business faced tough competition in the category from Scottish organisations including Diageo, TCP, uFraction8 Ltd and Wester Ross Fisheries Ltd who were all recognised for their outstanding commitment to sustainable innovation.

The awards were judged based on a combination of written applications and a judging panel visit to IGS’ demonstration facility based at the James Hutton Institute. During the visit, judges were given a tour of the vertical towers and had the chance to speak to members of staff about the organisation’s commitment to sustainable innovation.

David Farquhar, Chief Executive of IGS, commented: “Our commitment to delivering a sustainable future is at the heart of everything we do at IGS and has been integral to our development. We need solutions that are sustainable, economically viable and provide food security. Our systems will play a part in providing these solutions to a truly worldwide market.

“We are delighted to have been recognised at this year’s VIBES awards in the Innovating Scotland category. Our success is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team who work tirelessly to deliver solutions to the challenges facing global food security in an efficient and environmentally friendly way.”
