Vertical Farming
What are the benefits of growing vertically opposed to other methods, such as greenhouses or open field farming?
Vertical farming offers customers a number of advantages over greenhouse and open-field growing, including year-round production (regardless of the weather), reduced land and resource usage, a controlled growing environment free from pests and disease, and pinpoint control over crop quality and consistency.
Vertical farming is not a replacement for traditional agriculture, however. In many cases, it forms part of a hybrid model. For example, starter plants can be propagated in a controlled vertical farming environment, before being transferred to greenhouses or open field. This approach improves uniformity and resilience in early growth stages, while allowing growers to use the most suitable method at each phase of the plant lifecycle and reduce reliance on third-party suppliers.
